Zirakpur, July 14
A six-month-old girl was killed while her mother and elder sister sustained injuries after one of two fighting bulls thrust its horn into the scooter being driven by the baby’s father near Zirakpur.
The deceased has been identified as Anaya. Those injured are Usha Rani and her elder daughter Ruchika. The police said the incident occurred on Saturday when the family, residing in Modern Enclave, Baltana, was heading back home on a scooter. When the family reached near Modern Enclave, two fighting bulls came close to the scooter and one of the bulls thrust its horn into the scooter being driven by Kedar Nath.
Anaya, who was in her mother’s lap, fell on the road along with her sister Ruchika (6). Anaya’s head hit the road, leading to her death.
Residents of Baltana today held the Zirakpur MC responsible for the baby’s death. They staged a protest by blocking a road for over an hour against the authorities responsible for keeping a check on stray animals. — OC
