Banning mobile phones in schools can boost academic performances

A new research has found that school kids who are not allowed to take mobile phones in the school performed better in exams.

The research, led by London School of Economics, explained that especially struggling students at mobile-free schools got an extra hour's teaching per week, the Guardian reported.

The study noticed that banning mobiles in schools enjoyed a boost in the proportion of students getting five good passes at exams, compared with schools that allowed students to keep their phones even at switched off mode.

Richard Murphy, one of the co-authors of the research paper, said that the distraction and low-level disruption caused by kids having mobile phones in school appeared to be behind the results in exams.

Daisy Christodoulou, director of research in a London-based school said that there is plenty of solid evidence that shows that in order to learn, one have to pay attention. ANI
