Seven silver parasols stolen from Jain temple

LUDHIANA: As many as seven silver parasols worth several lakhs were stolen from the Jain Kasur Pariwar Trust temple from New Kichlu Nagar in the wee hours on Thursday.

As many as seven silver parasols worth several lakhs were stolen from the Jain Kasur Pariwar Trust temple from New Kichlu Nagar in the wee hours on Thursday.

Miscreants tied up the security guard with rope before committing the crime.

Rakesh Jain, trustee of the temple, said the incident came to the fore in the morning, when the guard called him up.

As per Ram Parshad, the guard, two miscreants entered the temple premises after scaling the outer wall. He came to know about the presence of thieves, when they were trying to break open the lock of the main door. The moment he reached near the main door, they overpowered him and tied his hands, legs with rope. “They took out a knife and threatened to kill me while asking for the keys of the second door where the silver parasols were lying. They ransacked my room and got the keys. Later, they opened the door and fled with seven parasols, including the three big and four small ones. 

Before leaving the temple, they thrashed me and snatched Rs 3,000 ,” he said.

The trustee said, the guard informed him about the incident and then he called the other members of the temple. No CCTV cameras were installed on the temple premises. A case was registered against unidentified persons.
