Shimla, January 10
To ensure transparency and fairness in the elections of the Himachal Pradesh Wrestling Association, the High Court today appointed BL Soni, a retired District & Sessions Judge, as an election observer.
A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ajay Mohan Goel also appointed sportspersons Jagmender Singh, Yogeshwar Dutt and Kuldip Malik as members of the election committee.
During the course of hearing, it was informed to the court that Wrestling Federation of India had issued the election schedule and the process would be completed by January 15. After hearing the matter, the court directed the committee, constituted by it, to follow the procedure strictly. The court passed this order on a petition filed in this regard. — OC
