Amritpal helps GMSSS-18 to victory

Amritpal Kaur struck twice as Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 18, blanked their Sector 37 counterparts 4-0 to win the girls' U-19 inter-school hockey championship here today.

The Sector 18 outfit adopted an aggressive attitude from the beginning of the match with Chammi converting a penalty comer in the second minute of the match.

Amritpal then scored a brace (5th and 18th minute) to help her team to a 3-0 lead before Geetan struck in the 42nd minute to ensure a top finish for the team.

Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, meanwhile, rallied to stun SGGS Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, 4-3, in a closely contested match to finish third.

SGGS girls dominated the play in the first 20 minutes of the match, pumping in three goals.

Geeta opened the account in the 4th minute while Seema doubled the lead in the very next minute. Mohini struck 10 minutes later to make it 3-0 in favour of SGGS.

The Sector 20 team though came back strongly in the remaining part of the match to stun their opponents 4-3.

Kalpana scored the opener for the team in the 22nd minute before Riya struck in the 33rd and 49th minutes to draw level with SGGS. Kalpana then scored his second in the 64th minute to help her team to victory.

GMSSS-26 in volleyball final

Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10, to enter the girls' U-17 inter-school volleyball championship final here today.

The Sector 26 spikers registered a 25-20 13-25 25-9 win in the semifinals.

In the second semifinal, GMSSS, Sector 33, overcame Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 34, 25-10 25-14 17-25 17-25 15-5.

In the boys' category, Government Senior Secondary School, Kaimbwala, blanked GMSSS, Sector 33, 25-9 25-20, while Government Model High School, Vikasnagar, drubbed GMSSS, Sector 10, 25-15 25-9. St. Stephen's School, Sector 45, meanwhile, beat Shri Aurbindo School, Sector 27, 25-19 25-23.

GMHS-20 beat St. Stephen’s

Government Model High School, Sector 20, beat St. Stephen's School, Sector 45, by a solitary goal to enter the final of the girls' U-19 inter-school football championship. Pritika scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute.

In the second semifinal, Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, overcame Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 31, 3-0.

GSSS Mani Majra in final

Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Mani Majra, registered a 36-13 win over Government Senior Secondary School, Dhanas, to ensure a final face off with SGGS Senior Secondary School, Sector 53.

SGGS beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 46, 30-10, in the semifinals.
