Intricate lines, bright colours, meaningful verses or symbols reflecting your personality, tattoos are a great instrument of self-expression and a big part of today’s culture. A memory or an emotion, every tattoo has a story behind it. If wanting to get inked is on top of your bucket list, but you are confused as to what it should be, here are some celebrities who can inspire you.
We all know Priyanka Chopra was very close to her father, so she has a tattoo on her wrist that reads ‘Daddy’s lil girl’. Some tattoos among our Bollywood stars reflect the love for their better halves or kids. Like the one on Saif Ali Khan’s right forearm — he has Kareena written in Devanagari, an expression of his love for Bebo!
Akshay Kumar began his rendezvous with tattoos when he decided to get his son’s name ‘Aarav’ written on his back. Then came Nitara, his daughter, and he knew her name had to be imbedded too – this time on his right shoulder. Now, this family man couldn’t have not thought the same for his wife and we know this because his left shoulder has Tina (Twinkle’s nickname) written in cursive!
Arjun Rampal has names of his daughters inked on both his arms. While Arjun Kapoor recently got a tattoo on his left arm that reads Per Ardua Ad Astra, a Latin saying that translates as ‘through adversity to the stars’. His first tattoo was dedicated to his late mother Mona Kapoor — Ma written in Devanagari on his right wrist.
As we talk of Arjun Kapoor, we can’t miss Malaika Arora! She also has a number of tattoos; two on her waist, one that reads ‘Angel’ and the second is ‘three bird silhouettes’. She also has one on the neck. It is a bee and the actress captioned it as — “To bee or not to bee”.
Kangana Ranaut has a tattoo of a warrior angel on her neck with wings, a sword and a crow—it goes so well with her personality. An example of anything for love is Deepika Padukone. She inked RK on her nape when she was dating Ranbir Kapoor. The couple broke up, but Deepika still has the tattoo, though slightly modified. She has another one — an anklet that has her initials.
Ranbir Kapoor has a tattoo on his right wrist — Awara in Devanagari script. Now some think it is a tribute to his grandfather’s movie by the same name, which was released in 1951, while others believe the tattoo goes with his personality, as he is someone who lives on his own terms. His girlfriend Alia Bhatt has the word pataka in Devanagari inked on the nape of her neck.
Philosophy of life
Our beauty with brains, former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen has several tattoos, all based on her life’s philosophy. The one on her forearm — which reads Aut Viam inveniam aut faciam — means “I will find a way or make my own”.
Dia Mirza is another woman who lives on her terms and believes we are all born free. This year in June she said it out loud with a tattoo on her left wrist – the word Azaad in Devanagari. It’s written in a way that it almost looks like Urdu. Television actress Aishwarya Sakhuja, who was recently seen in Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Trideviyan, has gone for her first tattoo too, which is dedicated to her late dog.
Other actors who have tattoos include Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Esha Deol, Hrithik Roshan, Shruti Hassan and Sonakshi Sinha. Now that’s a lot of inspiration!
Ties for life
Akshay Kumar has his son’s and daughter’s name as tattoos. Now, he couldn’t have not thought the same for his wife and we know this because his left shoulder has Tina (Twinkle’s nickname) written in cursive!
First tattoo for Camila Cabello
Pop star Camila Cabello has got her first tattoo as well. The Senorita hit-maker appears to have taken inspiration from Gwyneth Paltrow’s 1998 movie Shakespeare In Love for her tattoo, which features on the inside of her right ‘pinky’ finger. The tattoo is a quote from the movie and reads: “it’s a mystery”. IANS
