THE announcement that Mr. D.E. Wacha has been elected chairman of the Reception Committee of the Indian National Congress to be held at Bombay will be received with great satisfaction. Mr. Wacha is now by common consent the leader of the Congress party at Bombay and be commands the unstinted confidence of the public. The mantle of the late Sir Pherozeshah Mehta could not have descended on worthier shoulders and we must congratulate the Reception Committee on the appropriateness of their choice. He is also to be returned unopposed to the Legislative Council.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
