Minor tussle over girl leads to firing incident in city

A minor scuffle between two youths over a girl led to firing of a gunshot in the congested bus stand area on Monday. Though no casualty was reported in the incident, it has created a panic among city residents.
Preliminary investigation in the case revealed that the shot was fired by a member of the Lahoriya gang. Arsh Lahoriya, the cousin of the Suraj Lahoriya, head of the Lahoriya gang, was allegedly fired the gun shot at the other youth, identified as Gursharan Singh.
Police sources said Gursharan and the girl were enrolled for a personal grooming course in a make-up institute in the area.
Another youth Sahil too had taken training from the same institute a few months ago and was known to Gursharan and the girl.
On Monday, when Gursharan and the girl were sitting outside the institute, Sahil reached the place for some work and allegedly teased the girl. It infuriated Gursharan and both of them entered into a brawl.
After much hullabaloo, both of them threatened each other of dire consequences and left the spot. Eyewitnesses revealed that within a few minutes, both of them returned along with five cars carrying over 24 youths carrying arms and sharp weapons.
Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha confirmed that Sahil returned with members of the Suraj Lahoriya gang. Among them, Arsh Lahoria was carrying a .12 bore gun and allegedly fired at Gursharan.
However, the shot was missed and the youths managed to escape from the spot.
Sinha said directions were issued to the police team to take out details of the arms licences issued to the youths captured in the CCTV camera footage, retrieved from the spot.
The police have registered a case against the accused. The police have also identified over 10 accused including Shubham of Dilbagh nagar, Abhiloch of Grover Colony, Puneet Kumar of Nurmahal, Arsh Lahoriya and his father Lakha Singh Lahoriya and Suraj Lahoriya, and two unidentified persons from his family, Sahil, Rajat from Shahkot, Succha Singh from Kala Sanghian and Sandeep Bhardwaj from Adampur.
The police have also identified three of the five cars used in the incident.
