Upset over allegations of extramarital affair by kin and neighbour, a 35-year-old woman committed suicide in Gurbax Nagar on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Radha.

On the complaint of her brother, the police have booked three persons, including two women. One of the accused has been identified as Rakesh Kumar.

Deceased’s brother Sandeep said, “One of our uncles and his daughter raised a finger at the character of my sister. A neighbouring woman had shared such stories with others. Radha got upset and visited her uncle’s house on Thursday evening. She asked them to prove their allegation or apologise. The family did not listen to her.”

Radha hanged herself from a ceiling fan with her ‘dupatta’. Her family found her hanging on Friday morning. On being informed, cops reached the spot and for investigation.

Police officials said that acting on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, a case under Section 306 of the IPC had been registered against Rakesh Kumar, his daughter and a neighbour. No arrest has been made so far. Further investigation is going on.
