BEIJING: Chinese authorities have detained a Japanese man in Beijing, Tokyo confirmed on Monday, following media reports that he was a held on suspicion of spying.

Chinese authorities have detained a Japanese man in Beijing, Tokyo confirmed on Monday, following media reports that he was a held on suspicion of spying.

However, Japan’s top spokesman Yoshihide Suga did not specify the charges against the man, but Japanese media has identified him as a professor from Hokkaido University. — AFP
