Zirakpur, November 11
A 24-year-old youth reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his rented accommodation in Zirakpur here this morning. The deceased has been identified as Surjit Singh, who hailed from Jagraon village and was putting up at a rented accommodation near Nabha Sahib Gurdwara, Zirakpur, for two years.
The incident came to light when Surjit’s roommate came back after finishing his night shift. He found Surjit hanging in his room and informed the police.
The police said the victim was facing some financial issues, which drove him to take the extreme step. He had a private job and was unmarried, said the police. — OC
