13 arrested with drugs, illicit liquor

BATHINDA: Seven cases under the NDPS Act and six under the Excise Act have been registered in the past 24 hours in the district.

Seven cases under the NDPS Act and six under the Excise Act have been registered in the past 24 hours in the district.

In the first case registered under the NDPS Act, the police have seized 130 tablets and 130 drug syrup bottles from a person near Rajindra College in the city.

The accused has been arrested and identified as Dalip Singh, a resident of Baba Farid Nagar. A case against the accused has been registered at the Kotwali police station.

A person was arrested with 40 kgs of poppy husk and a car during checking at the Naruana road in Bathinda.

The accused has been identified as Rajiv Kumar, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana. A case against the accused has been registered at the Canal Colony police station.

In another case, the Nandgarh police arrested two persons with two kgs of poppy husk from Chak Attar Singhwala village.

The accused have been identified as Kulwinder Singh and Veera Singh, residents of Chotian village. A case against the accused has been registered at the Nandgarh police station.

A resident of Phulomithi village was arrested for possessing habit-forming drugs. As many as 450 tablets had been recovered from the accused, Binder Singh, who was held during a checking drive. He has been booked under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act at the Rama police station.

In another incident, two persons were arrested and six drug syrup bottles were seized from their possession, along with a car, during checking at Jassi Baghwali village.

The accused have been identified as Germandeep Singh of Jujhar Singh Nagar and Bhupinder Singh of Chughe Khurd village.

A person named Balwinder Singh, a resident of Bir Talab village, has been nabbed with one kg of poppy husk during checking at Naruana. A case against the accused has been registered at the Bathinda Sadar police station.

A person named Amarjit, a resident of Mandi Kalan, was arrested with 50 gram bhang during checking at Rampura Mandi.

A case against the accused has been registered at the Rampura (City) police station.

In the first case registered under the Excise Act, the police seized 200 boxes of liquor made in Haryana, along with a pick-up vehicle during checking at Jagah Ram Tirath village.

The police have registered a case against unidentified persons at the Talwandi Sabo police station as the accused ran away from the spot while leaving behind the liquor and vehicle.

In the second case, the police seized 13 boxes of liquor made in Haryana, along with a car, during checking at Goniana Khurd village.

The arrested accused has been identified as Bitta Singh of Goniana Khurd village .The police have registered a case against the accused at the Nehiawala police station.

In the third case, the police seized 348 bottles of liquor, along with a Qualis car from two persons at Rama village. Both accused managed to flee from the spot.

The police have registered a case against two unidentified persons at the Rama police station.

In the fourth case, the police seized 36 bottles liquor from two persons on a motorcycle during checking at Behman Diwana village bus stand.

The arrested accused have been identified as Barkat Singh and Chamkaur Singh, residents of Behman Diwana village.

In another case, accused Roshan Singh, a resident of Behman Diwana village, was arrested with 30 bottles of illicit liquor near the village bus stand. For both these incidents, a case has been registered at the Bathinda Sadar police station.

The police have seized 15 litres of lahan by raiding a house at Badiala village. A person, identified as Baljinder Singh, was nabbed from the spot. The police have registered a case against the accused at the Rampura Sadar police station.
