Bathinda, February 25

The police have booked two inmates of the Central Jail after two mobile phones were seized from them.

According to information, two Samsung mobile phones were seized from Pankaj Rajput of Ludhiana and Bhupinder Singh of Mansa district during a checking in barrack number 4 of block 1.

On a complaint of the Assistant Jail Superintendent Surinderpal Singh, a case under Section 188 of the IPC and Section 52-A of the Prisons Act has been registered.

Since January, the authorities have seized 32 mobile phones from Central Jail inmates. Despite the seizure of a large number of mobile phones, the authorities have failed to find how these mobile phones reached the premises. In the past two years, over 100 cellphones have been seized from the jail.

In November, CRPF personnel were deployed in the jail to strengthen its security system. Despite their deployment, there is no let-up in the seizure of prohibited material, including drugs and cell phones, inside the high-security jail.
