Mandi Ahmedgarh, November 5

The police have seized 210 litres of spurious milk and paraphernalia used in its manufacturing from a dairy owner here. The suspect, Sanjay Kumar, alias Bakri, of Jamnani village in Bahraich district of UP, has been booked under Section 272, 273 and 420 of the IPC.

The police team also seized a motorcycle used by the dairy owner to supply spurious milk to other dairies and domestic consumers.

The police action followed a coordinated raid against suspected manufacturers of spurious milk and milk products on Sunday. A joint team, led by City SHO Shashi Kapoor and Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Ravinder Garg, had zeroed in on establishments run by the suspects.

Investigations revealed that Ahmedgarh DSP Palwinder Singh Cheema and Kapoor launched a drive against suspected manufacturers and suppliers of inferior quality milk and milk products. Sanjay was identified as the main supplier of low-price milk and milk products.

Investigating officer Jaspal Singh said “After receiving secret information about his activities, we observed that he had been preparing spurious milk at his house and supplying it through Krishna Dairy situated on Chand Cinema Road here.” The investigating officer said a criminal case had been registered after getting samples of the milk sealed by a team of the Food Safety Department. — OC
