A passenger on the Rishikesh-Sriganganagar intercity express train was robbed by three armed miscreants between Malout and Abohar in the wee hours of Wednesday.
Government Railway Police (GRP) recorded his statement and registered a case.
Vishnu Dutt, a resident of Chak 1 KGD village near Sriganganagar, said he boarded the train from Ambala for Sriganganagar at around 6 pm on Tuesday. When the train stopped at the Malout railway station around midnight, three youths boarded the compartment he was in.
He said the youths placed a sharp weapon on his neck, threatened to kill him, and snatched his mobile phone and purse. They also threatened other passengers in the compartment, saying they would kill him if anyone made any noise. They then moved to another compartment. When the train stopped at Abohar, the robbers fled.
Vishnu informed the cops at the Abohar platform, and they advised him to go to the Civil Hospital, where he was admitted.
