3 held in hoax parcel bomb case

BATHINDA: The Bathinda Police claimed to have arrested three persons in a case of delivery parcel with a fake bomb and demanding Rs 10 lakh ransom.

The Bathinda Police claimed to have arrested three persons in a case of delivery parcel with a fake bomb and demanding Rs 10 lakh ransom.

The three accused have been identified as Pinki Kumar of Jogi Nagar, Manpinder Singh, alias Mana, of Harbans Nagar and Kuldeep Singh, alias Allu, of Mati Dass Nagar.

Superintendent of Police (D) Swaran Singh Khanna said a probe into this incident was given to CIA 1 Inspector Rajinder Kumar and after which they have arrested all the three accused from near Bir Talab village.

A mobile phone has been recovered from the accused which they have snatched from a rickshaw puller Jaspal Singh, resident of Amarpura Basti

CIA-1 in-charge Rajinder Kumar said that mastermind behind in this incident was Pinki Kumar, who was known to complainant Narinder Kumar from last eight years and use to work at his place for paint.

Pinki was aware that Narinder is financial sound and he has lot of money and to take money from him Pinki made this plan, under which seven days before he cut the gas pipe into 9 pieces and fix wires with tape in it and he kept small watch in it. Later, he brought two 9-9 volt batteries and connected all the material with black tape as by looking for the first time, it will look like a time bomb.

He also stated that after which Pinki told this plan to Manpinder and Kuldeep. Next day to execute the plan, they looted mobile phone from the rickshaw puller and Pinki told Manpinder to go Narinder Kumar’s house and deliver this parcel to his wife. After which Manpinder called Narinder from snatched phone and demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom.

Rajinder Kumar said accused conducted this crime as they want to become rich overnight.

It is pertinent to mention that on August 13, a bizarre incident was reported in the city when around 1 pm, a youth delivered a courier parcel to the wife of Narinder Kumar at their house in National Colony.

Thereafter, her husband received a call demanding ransom and the speaker threatened that if they did not give the money, a bomb in the box would explode.

The woman and husband, in a state of panic, informed the police control room about this call and parcel. They threw the parcel in a vacant plot.
