3 youths killed as car crashes into divider in Punjab’s Abohar

The passengers were returning from Fazilka when the driver lost control over the car

Three youths, two of them brothers, were killed and two injured as their car crashed into a road divider near here in the early hours of Monday.

The accident occurred around 1 am as the five were returning from Fazilka. According to eyewitnesses, the car coming from Hanumangarh Road side was descending the rail overbridge towards Rotary Chowk when the driver apparently lost control over it. The vehicle collided with the intersection with such force that its front portion was completely crushed and part of the divider was damaged.

Two occupants died on the spot, while three others were found trapped in the vehicle. They were pulled out and rushed to Abohar Civil Hospital. Three of the injured were declared dead, while two were given first aid and later referred to Faridkot.

The deceased have been identified as Uday (24), Vishal (22) and Raman (22). Uday and Vishal were siblings, and Raman was their cousin.  Uday was married and has two children. The injured have been identified as Roshan and Anmol.

All car occupants are residents of Balluana village near Abohar and worked as contractors in kinnow orchards.

The family said they received a call around 1.30 am informing them about the accident.

City-1 police station in-charge Ravinder Singh said the bodies have been kept in the mortuary for post-mortem, and the statements of the family are being recorded.
