BATHINDA: The police have booked five persons in two dowry cases. A woman from Guru Ki Nagri area in the city has alleged in her complaint that her daughter Paramjit Kaur was married at Gholia Kalan village in Moga district and her in-laws harassed her for bringing less dowry at the time of her marriage.

The police have booked five persons in two dowry cases. A woman from Guru Ki Nagri area in the city has alleged in her complaint that her daughter Paramjit Kaur was married at Gholia Kalan village in Moga district and her in-laws harassed her for bringing less dowry at the time of her marriage.

She said accused Kamaljit Singh and Puran Singh had been harassing her and asking her to bring more dowry.

Investigating officer Bhola Singh said a case had been registered in this regard against the two under Sections 498-A and 34 of the IPC at the women’s police station. However, no arrest has been made so far.

In another incident, the police have booked three persons on the charge of harassing a woman over dowry.

In his complaint to the police, Gurinder Singh of Rama Mandi said his daughter Amandeep Kaur had been harassed by her in-laws for bringing less dowry. The accused have been identified as Amritpal Singh, Gurcharan Singh and Jagjit Kaur, residents of Muktsar.

A case under Section 498-B and 406 of the IPC has been registered at the women’s police station. However, no arrest has been made so far. — TNS
