The police have arrested a person after 74,000 drug tablets were recovered from his godown in the city.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Dr Nanak Singh said CIA 1 in charge Amritpal Singh Bhati and Kotwali police station SHO Sunil Kumar in a joint action arrested accused Jaswinder Kumar, alias Rimpa, of Paras Ram Nagar and seized 1,000 drug tablets from his possession.
The SSP added that during a preliminary investigation, the police came to know that more drug tablets had been kept in his godown and after a raid, around 73,000 tablets were recovered.
The SSP said the accused would be presented in the court and they would seek his police remand so that the drug supply chain and other persons involved in this illegal business could be exposed.
He said it had also come to light that the drug tablets were supplied through courier services and the supplier was in touch with the accused through phone.
The SSP added that they had identified the suppliers, but they would not reveal their names as of now.
