The Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), Northern Railways, Sukhwinder Singh, on Tuesday visited the Muktsar railway station to inspect the Kotkapura-Fazilka railway section.

The National Consumer Awareness Group met him and handed over a memorandum regarding the problems being faced by passengers here. It included the speeding up of work on Muktsar’s maiden railway-over-bridge on Jalalabad road, change of name of Muktsar railway station as Sri Muktsar Sahib railway station, underbridge on the Bura Gujjar road, additional railway lines at Muktsar railway station and more trains.

Sham Lal Goyal, a local resident, said, “A train to Nanded Sahib should also be started from Muktsar. The Kissan Express, too, should be extended to Muktsar. Trains with higher speed should be started on the Fazilka-Delhi track. The railway godown and the platform should be renovated.”
