Bathinda, December 3

The police have arrested two Army men for allegedly killing their sister-in-law following a family feud in the wee hours in the cantonment area here on Monday. The suspects have been identified as Sham and Ram.

The deceased has been identified as Rajni (28), who was the mother of two children. Her husband is also in the Army and is currently posted at the Bathinda Cantonment.

According to sources, the suspects reached Bathinda from Madhya Pardesh at night to execute their plan. First, they electrocuted the victim and then strangulated her to death.

The victim’s husband was on duty at the time of the incident. Her children started crying following which soldiers living in adjacent quarters raised the alarm and caught hold of the suspects. Later, they were handed over to the military police. The reason behind the incident is said to be a family feud and according to sources, the victim was not on good terms with her brothers-in-law. She even used to ask her husband not to talk to his brothers.

The police have been investigating the matter and trying to find out if the husband was involved in the crime. After completing formalities, the military police handed over the case to the Bathinda police.

Inspector Narendar Kumar, SHO, Cantonment police station, said, “We have arrested two persons on the charge of murder. A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered. Relatives of the victim are on their way from Madhya Pardesh. The police will record their statements.”
