Bathinda, Mansa to host job fairs

BATHINDA: Bathinda Deputy Commissioner B Srinivasan today appealed to the unemployed and educated youth to take maximum advantage of the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Scheme of the Punjab Government under which 13,000 young boys and girls would be given jobs during three mega ‘Rozgar Melas’ in Bathinda, starting from September 20.

Bathinda Deputy Commissioner B Srinivasan today appealed to the unemployed and educated youth to take maximum advantage of the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Scheme of the Punjab Government under which 13,000 young boys and girls would be given jobs during three mega ‘Rozgar Melas’ in Bathinda, starting from September 20.

In a statement released here today, the Deputy Commissioner said these mega job fairs will be organised at different locations of the district in which renowned institutions and multi-national companies will select the youth according to their skills and education. He said the youth can join the job fair to undergo interview process, where representatives of companies would look for hard-working employees.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Gurpreet Thind said different loan schemes are also being launched by the state government so that the youngsters may start their own business ventures. Apart from this, soft skill classes are also being introduced at the District Employment Bureau so that the youngsters may also prepare themselves for the interviews.

The District Employment Bureau also conducts career counselling classes where experts deliver lectures for overall betterment of the youngsters. The job fair would be held at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University from September 20 to 22, Guru Kashi University, Talwandi Sabo, on September 24, and District Employment and Bureau, Civil Lines, on September 30.

Meanwhile, Mansa district administration is also holding mega job fairs at Royal Group of Colleges, Borawal, on September 19 and Shiv Shakti Colleges, Bhikhi, on September 26.

Presiding over a meeting convened to discuss arrangements for the job fair, Mansa Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait said around 6,000 vacancies in various sectors are up for grabs and the unemployed youth should not lose this golden opportunity.

She appealed the youth looking for employment to get registered at the District Employment Generation Bureau and draw maximum benefit from these job fairs. She said the avenues for self-employment would also be available at these job fairs.

She also directed the managements of Royal Group of Colleges and Shiv Shakti Group of Colleges to ensure proper seating plan, drinking water arrangements, washroom facility and other necessities at the respective venues.
