BJP, NGOs pay tributes to former PM Vajpayee

BATHINDA: The local unit of the BJP and other organisations paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away in Delhi on Thursday.

Bathinda, August 17

The local unit of the BJP and other organisations paid tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away in Delhi on Thursday.

BJP city president Vinod Kumar Binta and media in-charge Sunil Singla organised a prayer meet at Hathi Wala Mandir in the city.

Leaders and workers of the party paid tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee and senior leader and Chattisgarh Governor Balram Ji Das Tandon. A two-minute silence was also observed.

Vinod Binta, reviving the memories of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, said he used to have great respect for workers of the party and would treat leaders and workers of the BJP with equal importance.

He was the only shining star in the Indian politics, which will be remembered as greatest statesmen, honest politician and great visionary, he added.

Senior Deputy Mayor Tarsem Goyal, Deputy Mayor Gurinderpal Kaur Mangat, senior party leaders Mohan Lal Garg, Ashok Bharti and Gulshan Wadhwa also paid tributes to the former Prime Minister.

To pay tributes, the Association of Active NGOs (AAN) organised a plantation drive in the city, which was headed by Tehsildar Sukhbir Singh Brar and also observed one-minute silence.

AAN coordinator Sandeep Aggarwal said on the death of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Hotel Management College and other organisations of the AAN planted more than 151 saplings.

Condolence meets

Malout/Muktsar: The local units of the BJP on Friday held condolence meetings at Malout, Muktsar and Gidderbaha towns over the demise of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. BJP leaders remembered him for his contribution to the development of the country and his deep thinking. Harish Grover, president, Malout block, said, “Vajpayee ji had come to Muktsar and we all will miss him. He was a true leader who was even liked by leaders of other parties. We will always try to work on the path shown by him.” — TNS
