A breast cancer awareness seminar was organised by Max Superspecialty Hospital at a hotel in the city on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner Praneet, Finance Minister’s wife Veenu Badal and other dignitaries from the medical fraternity presided over the event.

A large number of cancer survivors were also invited at the event who narrated their inspiring journey of recovering from the deadly disease.

Veenu Badal said, “Breast cancer is rapidly spreading its tentacles and in order to curb the disease, women need to get themselves examined/screened on frequent basis. The government is serious about the disease.”

She also lauded the initiative taken by Hope, Help and Healing Foundation and Max Hospital.

Sukhdev Kaur, a cancer survivor, said, “After I came to know that I was suffering from breast cancer, I thought with minimum financial resources we had, I would not be able to survive. But my son put in every effort to get me cured from the disease.”

Expert oncologists from the hospital shared information on how to prevent the disease, which is often considered untreatable.

They said women must get themselves checked whenever they experience/spot a lump in their breast.

A motivational talk and meditation session was also organised at the end of the event.
