Canter driver killed in tree collision while avoiding car on Abohar-Rajasthan highway

A canter travelling from Suratgarh to Sriganganagar collided with a tree near the Mahiyanwali village bus stand on the Abohar-Rajasthan National Highway 62, killing the driver on the spot.

The vehicle’s helper narrowly escaped, while the occupants of the car that caused the incident fled the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Dhala Ram, 50, a resident of Osian tehsil in Jodhpur district. According to police, the accident occurred when a car coming from Suratgarh suddenly veered into the middle of the highway near the bus stand.

The canter driver, trying to avoid a collision, swerved to the right and crashed into a tree. The canter had its front completely crushed and glass shattered.

The canter driver was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police said the body has been kept at the mortuary, and the victim's family has been informed. Further investigation into the incident is underway, they said.
