BATHINDA: City girl Neharika Sharma (14) has won a bronze medal in the recently concluded state Sub-junior Boxing Championship being organised at Talwandi Sabo.

Bathinda, August 17

City girl Neharika Sharma (14) has won a bronze medal in the recently concluded state Sub-junior Boxing Championship being organised at Talwandi Sabo.

Neharika won the medal in the under-13 age category by defeating Samira of Pathankot in the quarter-final match. Later, she lost to Visakha of Pathankot in the semi-final to secure a bronze medal. Around 330 boxers from all across the state participated in the championship. Neharika is a student of Class IX at Saint Joseph Convent School and lives near Multania Road.

Neharika said, “I have taken to boxing six months ago and winning a medal after practising for such a short span is a big achievement for me. Now I am preparing for another state-level boxing championship to be held later this month. I am putting in my best efforts to secure a gold medal this time.”— TNS
