In a statement issued on Thursday, Momin and the company expressed grief over the singer’s death and denied any wrongdoing. They said they had acted lawfully and transparently and had remitted over $9.5 million to Moosewala, his family and authorised representatives. All payments were fully documented, they claimed.

They termed the allegations false and said they would cooperate with the investigation. They also stated that efforts were made on multiple occasions to contact Balkaur Singh, Moosewala’s father, but he remained incommunicado. The police have not issued any statement on the investigation so far.
