Dasehra celebrated with gaiety, traditional fervour in city schools

The Little Kingdom Nursery School celebrated Dasehra on the school campus on Thursday.

Children came dressed up as Ramayana characters like Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, Ravana, etc. A short story, with the help of a few characters, was depicted to young ones and the whole celebration was held in an ideal way for the kids to understand.

An effigy of 10-headed demon king Ravana was burnt with the bursting of crackers to clear the concept of the day to the young ones.

Addressing the kids, the principal of the school, Shuchita Grover, talked about the importance of the day and that it was celebrated as a victory of good over evil. She further said as per the Hindu religion, on this day in the Treta Yug, King Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, killed the great demon Ravana who had abducted Rama’s wife Sita to his kingdom of Lanka.

Later, a peace march was taken out from the school campus. Students of LKG and UKG classes offered prayers and walked through the lanes around the school with white flags in their hands and various placards like ‘We want peace’, ‘Peace is the path’ and ‘Forgive others, because you deserve peace’, were carried by the children.

Bachpan, a play school, on Thursday celebrated Dashera on their school premises. On the occasion, children were dressed as Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita, Hanuman and Ravana. The effigy of Ravana was burnt in the school.

School principal Palak Jaura congratulated the parents and students.

Dasehra was celebrated at Daddy’s Teddy School in Jhujar Singh Nagar on Thursday. Students celebrated the festival with great joy and enthusiasm.

A big effigy of Ravana made by school teachers was burnt. The principal told the students about the story of Lord Rama and Ravana and that the festival indicated the victory of truth over evil.

Keeping the festive spirit alive, Dashera was celebrated at St. Kabir School junior wing with fervour. A special function was organised on the occasion. Prof NK Gosain graced the occasion as a special guest.

A Ram Lila was staged by students in which they presented the scenes from Ramayana. A huge effigy of Ravana with 10 heads of social evils was burnt. Prof NK Gosain said Dashera was a festival of victory of good over evil and we should burn our evils on this day. School managing director Prof ML Arora wished a happy Dashera to students.

Both the campuses of Silver Oaks Saplings, a play school, on Thursday celebrated Dasehra to mark the victory of good over evil. Tiny tots of the school celebrated the festival with enthusiasm. Barninder Paul Sekhon, director of Gyanmanthan Educational Services Pvt Ltd, was present on the occasion. The schools were beautifully decorated and children came dressed up as different characters of Ramayana. The celebrations began with the tilak ceremony by children. Little Silverians performed on the musical role play of Ramayana. An eco-friendly effigy of Ravana was made by teachers which was later set ablaze.
