A day after the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) submitted the inquiry report of an alleged sexual harassment incident at the Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital here, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Monday sent the report back to the ADC.

“The inquiry report was not complete as some witnesses in the complaint had appeared before the ADC during the probe, but the complainant was not given an opportunity to cross examine them. Moreover, the complainant had also expressed her desire to cross examine the accused doctor. So as per the law of natural justice, we want her to avail the opportunity before the officer concludes the inquiry report,” said DC Kumar Saurabh Raj.

In a complaint to the police and the district administration, the medical officer had alleged that since 2016 when she was selected for a postgraduate course at the college, she was being harassed by the HoD on one pretext or another.

About three months ago, ADC Paramjit Kaur had started an inquiry into the allegations. Last week, members of the Punjab Students’ Union (PSU) and various other social organisations had staged a protest in front of the mini-secretariat here, alleging the inquiry report was deliberately being kept in limbo to help the HoD.
