Bathinda, November 20

Demanding a proper mechanism for animal carcass disposal here, a city-based health and human rights activist has sent representations to Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra, Health Minister Balbir Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal.

Dr Vitull K Gupta, chairman, Association of Physicians of India, has sent the written representations stating that “the recent incident of the MC trying to bury a animal carcass in a private plot near Kishori Ram Hospital, Basant Vihar, has exposed the absence of any mechanism for animal carcass disposal in the city”.

He expressed surprise and astonishment that Bathinda is getting national recognition and top ranks in cleanliness surveys, but at the same time, it does not have a proper policy for dead animals’ disposal.
