As many as 41 items on agenda will be tabled before the MC’s Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting to be held here on Thursday.

Many development projects may get a green signal at the F&CC meet, which will be presided over by Mayor Balwant Rai Nath.

As the Sewerage Board and Triveni Company have failed to carry out desilting of sewer lines in the city, the civic body has been planning to carry out the work on its own. A proposal for allotting money in this regard will be approved at the meeting.

Some of the items had got the MC’s node last year, but work orders have not been issued due to fund crunch.

Of the 37 items, 13 are related to laying interlocking tiles at a cost of Rs 1.68 crore in various areas of the city.

The amount of Rs 13 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh will be spent on the installation of pumps to drain out dirty water. These will come up in Parasram Nagar and Civil Lines.

While Rs 23.35 lakh is expected to be spent on repairs of roads and drainage system in Zone No. 6, an amount of Rs 5 lakh will be kept aside for repairs of public toilets in Madhuwan Street.

Repairs of fountains opposite the Sadar police station will cost the MC Rs 2.72 lakh. The long-pending repair work of Surkhpeer Road is expected to cost Rs 49.69 lakh.

Interlocking tiles are to be laid at Vishal Nagar at a cost of Rs 20.71 lakh and the MC will spend Rs 4.82 lakh on constructing a cement and concrete road in Shanti street.

It will spend Rs 1.02 lakh on  the development of Karnail Singh street and Rs 22 lakh for constructing a road in Arjun Nagar.

An amount of Rs 42.20 lakh will be spent on the development of streets in Hans Nagar, Rs 10 lakh for the development of Joggers’ Park and Rs 44.99 lakh for constructing roads in Ward No. 37.

During the F&CC meeting, the focus of the civic body will be on constructing new roads, re-carpeting the old ones and laying interlocking tiles in various parts of the city to pacify councillors.

Senior Deputy Mayor Tarsem Goyal said, “I have been taking up the issue of desilting of sewer lines for the past many years, but the MC always focused on makeshift arrangements during the monsoon season. We are paying a huge amount to the Sewerage Board and Triveni Company so it is our duty to monitor their work. Now, they are not only responsible for choked sewer lines in the city.”
