Bathinda, July 18
A 31-year-old farm labourer allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train on Tuesday night near the Maiserkhana railway station. Deceased Gurdeep Singh was depressed due to his poor financial condition.
His body was recovered on Wednesday morning from the railway track. Thereafter, a GRP team sent the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Later, the body was handed over to family members of the deceased.
It is learnt that the deceased was the only earning hand in his family. Leaders of a farm labourers’ union have demanded financial assistance for the deceased’s family and a government job to a family member. He has two sisters and a younger brother in his family and they all are unmarried. — TNS
