Farmers’ panel seeks cancellation of FIR

BATHINDA: Demanding cancellation of an FIR against activists of the Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union, members of different farmer unions under the banner of the Mimsa Anti-violence Action Committee submitted a memorandum of demands to the Deputy Commissioner here on Monday.

Demanding cancellation of an FIR against activists of the Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union, members of different farmer unions under the banner of the Mimsa Anti-violence Action Committee submitted a memorandum of demands to the Deputy Commissioner here on Monday.

They said the members of the Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union were beaten up by assailants while they were carrying out a rally in Sangrur in support of their demand for a share in panchayti land.

The union members said the police had registered a cross-FIR and did not arrest the accused who had beaten up the members of the union.

Satpal Singh, secretary, Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union, Punjab, said, “More than 14 persons had attacked the members of the Krantikari Pendu Mazdoor Union who were peacefully taking out a rally in support of their demand for a share in panchayat land. Representatives of various unions have submitted a memorandum of demands in different districts demanding appropriate action against the accused and cancellation of the FIR against the union members.”
