Farmers under the banner of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Sidhupur, again staged a protest against a tractor agency at ITI Chowk here on Monday.
The farmers have been agitating for the last four days alleging that Jagjit Singh of Nehiawala village had bought a new tractor from the agency two years ago and there was a five-year warranty against snag. When it started developing snags repeatedly, they asked the agency owner to replace it, but the agency refused to do so.
The tractor agency, Rohit Farming, refuted the allegations levelled by the BKU, Sidhupur, over some snags in the tractor. The agency said the tractor was delivered with a 2-year warrantee instead of 5-year being claimed by the farmer union. It added that it had never refused its customer — Jagjit Singh — to help him.
After running the tractor for one more year (almost 2,500 hours), now the customer again was complaining that he was facing the same problem and demanding that the tractor be replaced, he added.
He said, “We are ready to check and repair the tractor at our cost if the customer allows us to do so.”
