First corporate-style police station to be opened in Nov: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Range, MF Farooqui on Friday visited the Civil Lines police station. The IGP reviewed the ongoing work at the police station, which is being designed in a corporate style.

Farooqui said, “I visited the police station to take feedback about the ongoing work as Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal will inaugurate this new corporate look Civil Lines police station on November 4.”

He said the main focus behind giving a facelift to the police station was to provide better and friendly facilities to the public. He said if the project, which was being implemented on a trial basis, became successful, other police stations in the city would also got a face lift with these new facilities.

IGP Farooqui said there was a need for improving the relation between the police and the public. To increase the coordination, there was a need to upgrade the police station, he added.

“Proper seating arrangements will be made for public and special attention will be paid on the fact that people don’t face any problem here. For this, proper staff and infrastructure will be provided at the police stations in the city,” he added.

The police officer said a public relations officer would be deputed who would listen to the complaints of people. Besides, a waiting room had already been constructed at the Civil Lines police station.

On August 22, IGP Farooqui had visited the Civil Lines police station and at that time, he had directed the SHO to upgrade the police station.

He had also directed the SHO to change the look of the police station. — TNS
