Govt has failed on all fronts: Maluka

SAD leader Sikandar Singh Maluka on Tuesday said the state government had failed on all fronts. He said, “The government has failed to create employment opportunities for the youth and the law and order situation is deteriorating in the state. High power tariff and rampant corruption have affected the people in the state.”

Maluka said, “Everyday, people come to me and complain that they don’t have employment. Agriculture is in distress and development works have been lying standstill for the past three years. Moreover, neighbouring states are providing power at cheaper prices whereas in Punjab, the rate of electricity is Rs11 per unit. People are highly disappointed from the working of the Congress government.”

Talking about the youth going to foreign countries, Maluka said, “It seems that there is no system in place due to which the youths are going abroad. Most of the youngsters are doing labour jobs in foreign countries. As such countries have a strong economy, the value of work is more.”

Giving his views on stubble burning, Maluka said it was a serious issue and the government must look into it. He added that the government should urge farmers to shift from paddy cultivation and sow maize.

The SAD leader said party workers in his Assembly segment had been implicated in false cases. “I challenge any Congress worker who can say he was implicated during the SAD government. If anyone comes up with this, I will publicly apologise to him,” the former Cabinet minister added.

On many senior leaders leaving the party, Maluka said, “Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa was a Union minister. At present, he is a Rajya Sabha MP and his son was also a minister. Ranjit Singh Brahmpura was an MP and his son was an MLA. Rattan Singh Ajnala was also an MP and even his son was made CPS in the SAD government. The party has given so much to them and even SAD supremo Parkash Singh Badal has never said no to any of them on any issue. Despite this, they left the party.”
