Health team raids oil factory

On the directions of the district administration, a joint team of the Health Department and police conducted a raid at Sri Sham Traders oil factory late on Friday evening.

District health officer Dr Ashok Monga and DSP (City) Gurjit Singh Romana headed the team and seized cooking oil in large quantity from the factory. Officials also collected samples for testing.

Dr Ashok Monga said samples had been sent to a Chandigarh lab for testing. After the report, further action would be initiated. At present, the factory has been sealed as factory owner was not present at the spot.

Apart from this, the team also raided the house of the factory owner at Basant Vihar and Aggarwal Colony.

As per information, the police had received a tip-off that spurious ghee was being prepared at a house in the city.

DSP Gurjeet Singh Romana and Kotwali SHO Davinder Singh, along with a police team, raided the house.
