I-T survey at office of contractor

The Income Tax Department on Wednesday carried out a survey at the office of a civil works contractor, Amit Bansal, at Mandi Harzi Ram to confirm whether he was complying with the provisions under the Income Tax Act.

PK Sharma, Joint Commissioner, Income Tax, Bathinda, said, “A team had gone to carry out the survey in Malout and found some wrongdoings. The contractor had applied for 70 per cent refund of the TDS filed by him. Some documents have been impounded and the contractor agreed to pay Rs50 lakh tax.”

Theteam had started the survey at 9 am, which was underway till 6 pm. — TNS
