Inspector General of Police, Bathinda Range, MF Farooqui, appeared as a guest in a live radio show at Akashavani FM, Bathinda, wherein apart from discussing issues related to policing, he listened to the grievances of the general public through the telephone line.

Farooqui was of the opinion that the media and the general public seldom noticed the good work and achievements of the police though he admitted that there was a huge scope of reform and betterment in the department.

A caller from Bathinda drew the attention of the IGP towards a news item regarding an alleged rape victim whose complaint is not being registered at the police station concerned while another caller complained of the chaos created on roads by the three-wheeler drivers.

MF Farooqui noted all complaints and assured action in these cases. A caller complained of non-registration of an FIR for his stolen two-wheeler by the police to which he promised strict action against the erring policemen.

A poet himself, MF Farooqui turned to poetry and Urdu couplets to make his point during the show.

The IGP exhorted the public not to leave everything to the police and rather they should come forward to make the country a better place to live and abide by the law of the land.

He also appealed to the general public to be considerate toward a policeman who performs his duty during extreme weather conditions for the public good.

He said his doors were always open to the people for the redressal of their grievances, besides he also promised to be in the studio of the AIR FM, Bathinda, frequently to interact with people. Rajeev Arora, Director of the AIR FM, Bathinda, channel hosted the programme.
