His father, Nachhattar Singh, a former member of the village panchayat, said, “My son had a matrimonial dispute and the vase was listed for a hearing on Monday, but he consumed ‘chitta’. We had earlier admitted him to a de-addiction centre as well. We want action against those who sell ‘chitta’ in the village. It is easily available, but the cops are not registering a case.”

On the other hand, ASI Harjeet Singh said that a case would be registered as per the family’s statement and the post-mortem report.
