Man held with illegal pistols, cartridges

He was stopped for checking on his way to Sri Ganganagar on a tip off
Unlicensed weapons seized by the CIA Staff in Abohar.

The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) staff, a special branch of Punjab Police, have arrested a man with two unlicensed .32 caliber pistols and four live cartridges.

CIA officials said the suspect, Happy Singh, is a resident of Chahlan Wali village near Arniwala.

The team of CIA, under the leadership of the incharge Rupinder Singh, had laid a naka near the Abohar-Killianwali bypass. The man, riding a motorcycle, was stopped for checking on his way to Sri Ganganagar on a tip off. Police claimed that there were reports that the suspect indulged in smuggling unlicensed weapons.

The officials said a case was registered against the suspect under the Arms Act.

He has been sent to police remand and he will be questioned further to ascertain from where and whom he had arranged the weapons, they added.
