Man shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Bathinda

Bathinda SSP says teams scrutinizing CCTV cameras; seems to be a case of personal enmity as per preliminary investigation

A man was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants at Mehna chowk here on Monday evening, police said.

The deceased identified as Nirmal Singh, a resident of Neeta street in Bathinda, worked at a AC repair shop and was travelling on a two-wheeler with his co-owner when assailants opened fire at him.

According to officials, preliminary investigation suggested that four shots were fired out of which three hit the vehicle, while one hit Singh’s forehead.

He was rushed to the civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, a team of senior police officials reached the spot and initiated investigation.

Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal said one person was shot dead at the Mehna chowk and teams are working on the case.

“We are scrutinizing CCTV cameras installed on the road. Initially, it seems to be a case of personal enmity, but the exact reason will be cleared only after a through probe,” added the SSP.
