Bathinda, February 11

Though three days have elapsed since the encroachment of DAV land by residents of Chandsar basti headed by Congress councillor Raja Singh, no action has, so far, been initiated by the Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) in this regard.

The land has been encroached openly, but no MCB officials have written to the police department to lodge an FIR against the accused in this incident.

It is pertinent to mention that some residents of Chandsar Basti headed by councillor Raja Singh of the Congress openly encroached upon the land and opened a gurdwara on 500 square yards of the government pond located behind DAV School.

A Nishan Sahib has been installed there and a copy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib has been kept in a room constructed on a temporary basis. Even MCB team went to demolish the encroachment, but seeing Guru Granth Sahib kept there they had returned without taking any action.

A MCB senior official said the issue was religious and they had informed Takth Damdama Sahib to intervene .

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said he had told the police to initiate an FIR in this matter verbally, however no written complaint has been forwarded yet.
