Bathinda, November 19

After giving residents the benefit of online payment of sewerage bills, water bills and property tax, the Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) is all set to provide digital door-to-door bill payment collection service in the city.

Under this scheme, MCB officials would visit residences to get the bill, which can be paid through credit or debit card. The residents will also get a receipt on the spot.

The MCB has initiated talks with State Bank of India (SBI) regarding purchase of POS machines. It is learnt that MCB wants RBI-certified machines, due to which there is some delay, but officials are hopeful that the service would be initiated within some days.

In the first phase, the MCB has planned to purchase 10 POS machines, so that its employees can go door to door and collect the payment on the spot.

Apart from sewerage and water bills, residents will be able to pay property tax and garbage collection fee as well.

MCB Commissioner Dr Rishipal Singh said “We are almost in the final stage of starting the door-to-door digital collection of bills service, but there is some delay as we want RBI-certified machines. Hopefully, we will get them in coming days and this service would be started soon”.

The MCB had decided to start the service after seeing the inconvenience caused to people. The MCB field staff would take the bill payment from the residents and the system was fully secure, he added.
