Bathinda, July 18
Members of the ministerial staff staged a protest against the mandatory dope tests for all government employees and levying development tax on employees.
Government employees from different departments participated in the protest march. The protesters gathered outside the mini-secretariat and raised slogans against the state government.
The president of the Ministerial Service Union, Megh Singh, said, “We vehemently oppose the state government’s decisions of mandatory dope tests for government employees and imposing development tax. The employees of different departments are already perturbed as their demands have not been fulfilled and now the government is putting additional burden by such decisions. Jobs of contractual employees are not regularised, salaries are not increased, new recruitment only made on basic pay and pending dearness allowance has not been released till now.”
Singh added, “If the ruling government does not revoke its decisions of dope test and development tax, then we will intensify our protest. We will stop working and stage protest in future as well. We have also given a call for state-wide protest on July 25.”
