Muktsar resident falls into water tank, dies

A 29-year-old man from Muktsar died under suspicious circumstances at Waryamkhera village in Abohar, the police said.

Deceased Amit Kumar was unmarried. Hailing from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, he had been living with his aunt in Muktsar and worked for a private insurance company.

He had come to Waryamkhera two days ago with a friend to attend a wedding. According to initial information, Amit suffered from epileptic seizures. The police said he might have had a seizure and fallen into a water tank in the house. No one else was present there at that time.

Family members later found him unconscious and informed the police. The body was sent to a government hospital in Abohar for a post-mortem examination.

The police have initiated proceedings under Section 194 of the BNS based on family statements. Officers said the exact cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem report was received. The body would be taken to Aligarh for the last rites.
