Two persons were killed and one injured in separate accidents in the district on Friday.

In the first incident, a man was killed after a motorcycle on which he was travelling to Katar Singh Wala rammed into a car. The victim, who was travelling with his brother, tried to save stray animal that came in front of his bike, leading to the mishap.

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Chander (55) and his brother Babu Ram Sharma was injured, who is under treatment at a private hospital in the city.

The Bathinda Sadar police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the IPC.

In another incident, a youth was crushed to death under the wheels of a rashly-driven vehicle on the Bathinda-Badal road on Friday. However, the vehicle’s driver fled from the spot after the incident.

Mukhtair Ram of Ghudda village told the police on Friday, his son Sukhwinder Ram (18) on a motorcycle (PB 03 LW 4756) was going to the Ghudda Civil Hospital to meet his sister, who had given birth to a baby. He said a rashly-driven vehicle (PB 03 LW 6877) laden with cement bags rammed into his son’s bike, leaving him dead.

The Nandgarh police have impounded the vehicle and registered a case against the driver.
