Ludhiana, November 11

Ludhiana Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said on Sunday that no person would be allowed to disrupt peace and communal harmony of Punjab.

He said whosoever tries to do so would be dealt with sternly. He said the role of Sikh hardliner Baljit Singh Daduwal and others who follow his ideology should be probed in relation to the attack on a particular sect’s ‘Bhawan’ at a village in Amritsar district.

He was talking to the media during a function related to the distribution of free gas connections (LPG kits) under the PMUY scheme at the Indoor Stadium on Pakhowal Road here on Sunday. A basketball league to create awareness among youngsters so that they stay away from drugs was also organised on the occasion.

Bittu offered condolences to those who have lost family members in the incident and called it an attempt to disturb peace in Punjab.

“The desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was also done by people who do not want Punjab to flourish. Some Khalistan sympathisers such as Baljit Singh Daduwal are doing petty politics over the sensitive issue. The Congress government in Punjab is keeping a close watch on the activities of all such individuals,” said Bittu.

He said the attack on the sect’s Bhawan is a cowardly act and condemned it. “It is a reprehensible act of violence and we will not let the forces of terror destroy our peace,” he said.
