Mismanagement on the parts of officials delayed the drainage of rainwater after a record rainfall lashed the city for two days as there was no power supply in waterlogged areas due to which motors at pumping stations were run on generators.

At a few pumping stations, motor could not run as generators ran out of diesel and subsequently developed a technical snag. However, no action has been taken against any officials over the negligence till date.

A senior local Congress leader on anonymity said, “They walked in 5-foot-deep water to get the motors started as there was a total chaos on the part of MC, as Triveni was nowhere seen helping in water drainage work”.

Further, he said there was no power supply in the waterlogged areas, due to which motors at pumping stations were run on generators, but at few pumping station motor could not run as generators ran out of diesel and subsequently developed a technical snag.

He claimed that they had raised the issue with the MC officials and soon motor would be installed at high places.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said, “This issue also came to his notice, but he had strictly directed the officials to arrange the alternate generator at the earliest, so that people do not face any problems and water is pumped out at the earliest.”
