One held with illicit liquor

Bathinda: Officials of CIA-1 seized 28 boxes of illicit liquor made in Haryana by conducting a raid at a house in Burj Mehma village. The police have arrested accused Gurdas Singh. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the accused at the Nehiawala police station. CIA-1 in-charge Rajinder Kumar said the police had got a tip-off that Gurdas Singh had kept illicit liquor in his house. A raid was conducted at his house during which 28 boxes of liquor were recovered. He said during interrogation, the accused had stated that he had been doing smuggling of liquor for the past one year. He uses to earn Rs 400 per box as liquor in Haryana is cheaper as compared to Punjab.
